Stucco repair is the repair and restoration of a building's stucco exterior — the cement-based finish coating that protects and finishes most South Florida walls. It ranges from sealing cracks and patching damaged areas to removing water-damaged stucco and re-coating entire walls, finished to match the surrounding texture and color. Because stucco is the building's weather barrier as much as its finish, repairing it correctly keeps water out of the wall behind it.

In South Florida, stucco takes constant sun, salt, humidity, and wind-driven rain. Over time it cracks, stains, and lets water in — and a stucco crack that's only sealed on the surface, without addressing why it cracked, simply opens back up.

Miami stucco takes more abuse than almost anywhere in the country. Daily heat cycles expand and contract the wall; summer downpours and hurricane season drive rain sideways into every unsealed crack; salt air off the Atlantic corrodes the metal behind the surface; humidity feeds mold in shaded elevations. Once water is inside, the sequence is predictable: the corroding metal expands, the bond breaks, the wall sounds hollow, and stucco begins to spall — a word worth knowing: spalling is when the surface breaks away in flakes or chunks. Traditional stucco is a cement plaster — portland cement, sand, lime, and water — applied in a three-coat system: a scratch coat keyed into the lath, a brown coat that builds thickness and plane, and a finish coat that carries the texture. Repairing it correctly means respecting that system.

Depending on what the assessment finds, our crews rout and seal cracks; cut out and patch damaged areas back to sound material; renew corroded attachment and underlayment; re-stucco entire walls; and finish with acrylic or elastomeric coats specified for coastal exposure. Where an older wall meets a newer base coat formulation, we test adhesion first — matching materials matters as much as matching texture on exterior walls that take this much weather.
